Vision
The citizens of Owensboro-Daviess County are served by governments that are effective and work for the common good.
Mission
Citizens for Good Government (CGG) strives to educate, engage and connect the public with elected and appointed officials in addressing important issues and major decisions facing our community.

Goals and Strategies (sample programs and projects)
Internal:
- increase membership/participation to 40 by June 11
- consider governance structure (e.g., officers, board, terms)
- establish committees, assign duties (e.g., recorder, media liaison, etc.)
- ground rules for dialogue sessions and forums
- collaborate with other We the People groups and community organizations
External
- Develop into a community sounding board for good governance, a resource for the public, groups and officials to assess the practices and policies of governments and public institutions.
- Research (or retain researchers) to assemble facts and trends on areas of interest.
- Incorporate a “Speak Up” period into all CGG meetings.
- Host presentations, panels and debates by elected officials, public administrators and policymakers.
- Frame issues and conduct public forums.
- Share information with the public.
- Encourage officials to take action that CGG believes is in the public interest through personal contact, presentations, letters, position papers, media releases, etc.
- Publish a:
- schedule of public meetings
- directory of public officials
- guide to running for office or obtaining a public appointment.
These could include local governments, school systems, public library, board of health, OMU, public commissions, public agencies and major private nonprofits: OMHS, River Park Center, museums, Audubon Area Community Services, Foster Center, colleges, etc.
- Develop a website (featuring comparable information).
- Publish a white paper on a topic of interest.
